We walked in on a sunday. Lots of other places were closed but this luckily wasn't. We had fresh juices, mushrooms in a very nice garlic sauce with some bread for dipping and a gorgeous pizza (a big one for the 2 of us). The juice was very nice and fresh and because the waiter found that we had to wait a little long on the pizza (which really wasn't a problem because we also had the appetizer) we got one more juice for free. The pizza was excellent, just how we want it and we were served very kindly. We defenitely recommend this place!
It should've been our first choice! It's Monday on a holiday and we randomly ran into this place after finding our first choices were closed. It is a cozy restaurant which exudes a European charm. Maira is a wonderful owner, chef, and waitress. She's from Santa Marta, Columbia and spent more than a dozen years studying Italian cuisine. It isn't your American "Italian", but we fell completely in love! The bruschetta, the Canneloni, and the lasagna mixta were spectacular! We're definitely planning on returning to this quaint place while we're here.
We ate in this Italian restaurant one Sunday night when finding somewhere to eat at 8:00 pm in La Candelaria was not easy – most restaurants were closed. The restaurant is nicely fitted out with mostly small circular tables neatly dressed with pretty tablecloths, and quaint rustic stick-back chairs. It felt a bit odd to begin with when the sole waitress on duty carried out her role wearing one of those face masks much favoured by Chinese living in heavily polluted cities. Although service was slow, when the food came it was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious, full of flavour. I’m not a great fan of eating in Italian restaurants outside of Italy (except in my own country), but this enforced choice turned out to be a very pleasant experience – and very reasonably priced.
The food is pretty good but i was expecting a wider selection of international and vegetarian foods, it is mostly Italian, they have a nice fire place but be aware if you don't like smelling like smoke. I also ordered a plate expecting it to be vegetarian because of the ingredients listed in the menu but it wasn't because it contained kanikama which is fish meat. The bathrooms are the worst as it is a stall right next to the tables which gives no privacy, if you have tummy troubles i am absolutely sure the smell would be felt in the dining area with any kind of "noise" (farts), the stall is so small that the handwasher is located outside of it in a corner of the dinning area, a very unpleasant big detail.
